Here it is: the report from the really intense August debate trainings and tournaments in Seul, 
written by Loke Wing Fatt from Singapure with whom I had a great pleasure to work with. Bojana

> 3 SAID members, Cheong En Min, Hewlens Wong and Loke Wing Fatt were at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea, in August to take part in 3 exciting debate events as debate coaches/adjudicators/students of debate:

> a)    Asian Debate Institute, 11th to 17th Aug 2006
> 
> 
> Directed by the tireless Mr Jason Jarvis and beautifully asssisted by Assistant Director, Ms Jisoo Shin, this year's debate education programme involved 108 Korean High School students.  They were being trained in the World Schools debating format from 11th to 17th August 2006.  Besides the almost two-fold increase in the number of high school students taking part, there was a significant increase in the number of male students this year, compared to only 2 out of 60 students for last year's event.

> b)    Second Korea High School Debate Championship 2006, 18th to 20th Aug 2006
> 
> 
> Under the auspices of the Korea Debate Association, Mr Ian M. Yovdoshuk, Tournament Convenor, Ms Bojana Skrt, Chief Adjudicator, and Mr Jason Jarvis, Tabulation Director,  ran the Second Edition of this event fautllessly for 5o Korean high school teams with an army of enthusiastic high school  volunteers, high school teachers and invited adjudicators.  In the end, Daewon Foreign Language High School Team A emerged as Champions.

> The Korean National Debate Coach, Mr Peejay Gracia, was there to scout for more debating talents so as to better their performance of being the Quarter-Finalists and Best English-as-a-Foreign-Language Team (EFL)  Team in this year's World Schools Debating Championships 2006 in Cardiff, Wales, UK in July this year.

> 
> We hope that the Korean National World Schools Debate Team will scale greater heights in next year's World Schools Debating Championships 2007  to be held in Seoul, Korea, in February 2007.

> 
> c)    World Debate Institute (Asia), 20th to 27th Aug 2006
> 
> 
> 80 university students from China, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Lithuania, USA and Taiwan took part in a full week of Asian style debate lectures, tutorials, debate practices.
> 
> In the mini tournament of this event, Team Very Reasonable People (VRP) from Ewha Woman's University, Korea, defeated Team SAIDists with a vote of 25 to 19 from the audience-judges in the Finals.
> 
> The Society for Associated Inter-Tertiary Debaters (SAID) would like to thank Jason Jarvis, Jisoo Shin, Bojana Skrt, Omar Salahuddin, Alfred C. Snider, Thepparith Senamngern, John Dolan Meany, Irma Nurzahrah, Ji Ho Park, Logan, Kevin Massie, Ah Young Kim, Yoshihiro Kobayashi, Iqbal Hafiedz, Sing Chi, Chihiro Nakagawa, Dan William, Heaeum Cho, Jong-min Choi, Christy Bradley,  and Serena Turley for being such wonderful fellow trainers, friends and debate evangelists.

> Continuing the yearly visits by Japanese varisty debaters to SAID in Singapore, Ms Aki Yumoto of Kansai Gaikokugo University, Japan, was in Singapore from 14th Aug to 8th Sept.  While she was here, Aki attended two SAID debate sessions and dined with our members at the famed Holland Village eateries.
