Greetings IDEA Network News Readers,
I'm writing to you from the IDEA Youth Forum 2007 in Trest, Czech
Republic. Today marked the first day of the Karl Popper Mixed Teams
Tournament. Today's debates were interesting; the prepared topic for the
first two rounds this morning was, "Hate speech should be a crime." You
can see the latest Forum news at idebate.blogspot.com. You can even watch
videos from Forum on the blog. Or, you can listen to IDEA Radio at
http://www.idebate.org/idearadio!
If you are on Facebook, you may want to join the Facebook group, IDEA
Alums. You can connect with people from past IDEA events and get the
latest on current IDEA events. To see this facebook page and join the
group, go to: http://willamette.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2204608836.
There is also a Facebook group for The People Speak Global Debates. You
can join this group and see cool Global Debate PSA's. If you haven't had
a chance to learn about the Global Debates 2007/2008 yet, you can learn
more at http://www.thepeoplespeak.org or
http://www.idebate.org/thepeoplespeak.
High schools who participate in the Global Debates are eligible to win one
of six trips for schools outside of the U.S. to attend the UN Youth
Summitt in New York July 2007!
Have you seen the IDEA Wiki yet? You can learn more about a variety of
debate and IDEA-related topics and even create content for the Wiki.
Participate in a truly democratic way of sharing knowledge! Check out the
wiki at http://www.idebate.org/wiki.
Regards from Trest,
Arminda
