What is the capacity building track?
The Capacity Building (CB track) has been created
to help young people play a central role in strengthening debate in
their communities. Debate is great, and many places need to find ways to
help it to survive, to help it to grow and to help it become stronger.
This track is focused on training you to make that happen.
What kinds of things will happen in the track?
You will focus on designing, developing and planning to implement projects specific to the
interests and skills as well as the needs of your debate communities.
Projects can range from running tournaments to writing grants for
special projects to implementing training sessions for new debaters.
You will learn effective coaching techniques and approaches. Special
guest presentations will be offered on topics including: tournament
tabulation, fundraising, coaching techniques, public debate training and
more. We want you to come home prepared to take the leadbe it by
judging, coaching, running events, raising money, doing publicity, starting
new teamswhatever. Prizes will be awarded for the best projects.
Why would I want to sign up for it?
You love debate and want to make a difference. The
world of debate needs your expertise. You are ready to go beyond just
competing and use the skills you have developed to help others. Come
learn and work with some of the best debaters, coaches and administrators
in the world
