IDEA-NL an independent membership association of organizations and
individuals that support debate (a formal contest of argumentation between
two teams in which one team supports, while the other team opposes, a given
proposition), human rights and civic education worldwide. IDEA is registered
in the Netherlands as a not-for profit membership organization. IDEA
provides assistance to debate and educational institutions worldwide. IDEA
is currently looking for a Development Director to be based in the
Netherlands.

Job Title:  Project Coordinator Coordinator
Reports To: Executive Director of IDEA
 
 
SUMMARY:
 
IDEA is seeking a Project Coordinator 
 
 
The Project Coordinator would report to IDEA's Executive Director, and work
regularly with IDEA's Development Coordinator as well as other staff. 
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
*    To coordinate and manage Dutch and international projects run by IDEA. 
*    Supervise interns who would be hired when necessary for projects.
*    To assist with writing, when necessary, proposals for future projects.
*    Prepare and submit reports to donors about grants and donations
received.
*    When necessary, to perform overall office support tasks
(correspondence, telephone, financial administration).
*    To ensure that handouts, educational materials and reports related to
projects are prepared in a timely and appropriate manner, and are archived
for future use. 
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
To perform this job successfully, the Project Coordinator must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below
are representative of the experience required:
 
*    Experience in coordinating short and long term international projects;
*    Experience in coordinating the work of interns;
*    Good organization skills;
*    Good communication skills with people from international backgrounds;
*    Cultural sensitivity and flexibility in working methods;
*    Experience with NGO work. 
 
 
LANGUAGE ABILITY
 
The Project Coordinator must be able to read, write, and speak English and
Dutch proficiently.  Another major European language is desirable.
 
 
INTERNATIONAL DEBATE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (IDEA)
 
Since 1994 IDEA has introduced debate to secondary schools and universities
throughout Central and Eastern Europe, the Former Soviet Union, Central
Asia, and Haiti and continues to grow throughout the world. IDEA currently
has members in 40 countries.
 
IDEA develops civic education and human rights curricula and works closely
with educational institutions (ministries of education, teacher training
institutes, and educational colleges). IDEA organizes trainings for teachers
and educators in debate education and interactive methods of working with
young people. IDEA also runs educational events for secondary school
students: workshops, competitions and forums. IDEA also offers trainings in
communication and advocacy for other profession groups (NGO personnel, human
