Dear debate activists,
On November, 1 2006 - November 2, 2006 IDEA is pleased to announce that
a new event, the "IDEA Exchange," will take place on November 1st and
2nd, 2006 at the same location in Prague, the Czech Republic, as the
IDEA-NL General Assembly.
This event, which is free of charge, will feature workshops and seminars
designed to help facilitate the exchange of ideas on how to promote and
sustain debate. For more information, check out www.idebate.org/events

interested in attending the workshops, indicating which workshops are of
interest to you.
Here is the proposal for the Limited Preparation Debate Workshop, which
will take place during IDEA Exchange.
Workshop Facilitator: Sharon Porter
The Director of Forensics at Northern Arizona University from 1981
through 2004, Sharon transitioned their team from policy debate to
parliamentary debate. She became a consultant for IDEA upon her
retirement and while she was service as President of the National
Parliamentary Debate Association, the largest collegiate debate
organization in the United States.
This workshop will cover three hours of instruction and will include the
following objectives:
A. Acquaint participants with limited preparation debate.
B. Present a strategy for preparing students to do limited
preparation
debate.
C. Provide opportunities for participants to practice effective
team
preparation techniques.
The workshop will include the following sessions:
1. What is limited preparation debate? (Definition)
2. Why is it so popular? (Justification)
3. How does a coach prepare students for limited preparation
debate? (Plan)
4. What is your success as a limited preparation coach or
debater? (Action)
