Let's start the new year with new events!
IDEA is organizing a festival of ideas entitled "EuroYouth: European Youth
Discuss the Future of Europe". The festival, featuring the first ever Model
European Youth Parliament will take place in Amsterdam (at the University
of Amsterdam), on
March 16-17, 2007.
The goal of EuroYouth festival is to exchange ideas on how European Youth
can be involved in the process of shaping the future of Europe and how
European ideas and policies relating to youth can be communicated with
European Youth.
The festival will take the form of the first ever IDEA Model European Youth
Parliament! The event will start off with an address by official guests and
hosts of the event. We will then provide a short introduction of the Model
European Youth Parliament procedures and rules. The participants will then
present, discuss and vote on pre-prepared resolutions. A group of judges
will select the most effective parliamentarians who will continue their
debates in the final plenary session! Winners will be awarded prizes.
We will announce the topics for discussion and the resolutions selected by
the European Youth Speak project partners by February 1, 2007.
You do not need to be part of the project in order to participate in this
event. You can suggest a topic for discussion or register to participate in
the EuroYouth Model European Youth Parliament by emailing Jurate
Motiejunaite at jmotiejunaite at idebate.org (deadline - February 20, 2007)
The participants have to make their own travel and accomodation
arrangements.
The EuroYouth festival of ideas is a part of the European Youth Speak
project in which IDEA is partnering with debate organizations from Czech
Republic, Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia, and the HREA organization in the
Netherlands.
