Dear All,
greetings from Dushanbe - Tajikistan. IDEA and OSI Tajikistan Soros
Foundation have successfully launched the 1st Tajik Model United Nations.
The event brought together over 90 secondary school and university
students from Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kyrgizstan. MUN
delegates represent over 40 nations and the topic for the proceedings is
proliferation of the weapons of mass distruction.
Today started with the official opening (by the Exectitive Director of OSI
Tajikistan and the Head of the UNDP for Tajikistan), introductory sessions
on the UN and Model UN and the 1st session of the General Assembly.
Tomorrow we will continue working in regional blocks and General Assembly.
All participants are enthusiastic and there are many great debates going on.
I will be sending you a more detailed report after the MUN.
