Curriculum Writing Workshop
IDEA Exchange 2006
Workshop facilitator: Nancy Claxton

The proposed workshop will cover 3 hrs of instruction and will include the
following objectives:

·	Acquaint participants with the process of writing curriculum, with an
emphasis on DAC curriculum.
·	Provide opportunity for simulating the creation of a curriculum.


The workshop will include the following:

1.	Understanding the learning process and the necessity of a quality
curriculum to facilitate learning.
2.	Assessing need and creating a framework for teaching to objectives
3.	The ingredients of a quality lesson
4.	Assessment and evaluation
5.	An interactive simulation of creating one of the DAC Guidebooks from
start to finish.


Note on the trainer:
Nancy has been writing curriculum for IDEA since May 2005.  Before joining
IDEA, she wrote curricula for numerous schools in the US, Africa, and the
West Indies. She also has trained hundreds of teachers and school principals
in educational leadership, teaching methodologies, special education, and
various aspects of school management.
