Hey everyone!
If you're a bit like us you save all the newsletters until the last day and then attempt to read them on the plane or not at all. Don't do that with this one!
While debate theory is greatly important, we found out our fondest Forum memories are mainly of what we had done outside of our morning and afternoon labs. :-) That's why you should read this introductory letter from the Czech-It-Out team a.k.a. the Free Time Committee. Here you'll find out what wonderful options we've prepared for you to fill the little free time you'll have at the Forum and we ask you for some brief information in return.
What do we offer?
Lots of goodies. We're preparing a mix of stuff proven by history (such as the traditional Country Expo night) and a bunch of new things where you'll be the guinea pigs trying them for the first time. :-)
Now, the important stuff: There are two days for which you have to make a decision before you come to the Forum -- this is to enable us to make all the necessary arrangements so that you don't experience any organizational glitches on the D-day. On both of these days, you'll get outside the Forum site and go on a trip.
July 27: PRAGUE (also called "the golden city") is where we'll go watch the final round of the Karl Popper Championships. Good news from us is that you'll have about half a day after the finals to spend as you like. The options include:
(1) Sightseeing Tour
(2) Treasure Hunt
(3) Prague Zoo
(4) Free time (none of the above)
Please read the attached file to find out more about each of these options.
August 1: DAY TRIPS. We've prepared six exciting options. In short, these are:
(1) Telč or bust! - Bike trip (EUR 10)
(2) Waterworld - Aquapark (EUR 10)
(3) Touch of History - Telč, Dačice and Slavonice (EUR 15)
(4) Magic Caves - Moravian Karst (EUR 20)
(5) Prague I (organized, EUR 50)
(6) Prague II (on your own, EUR 10)
Please read the attached file to find more details about these trips (including pictures). The prices may slightly differ - depending on the number of registrants. We will charge the cost of the trips in cash in either Euros or USDs or local currency.
What should you do?
After you decide what you want to do on days allocated for trips, send an e-mail to Katechka ( katechka at centrum.cz) with your name(s) and the options selected on or before July 16. Please note that if you forget to send this e-mail, we will sign you up for option #4 on July 27th and for option #6 on August 1st.
Who are we?
Almost every Czech volunteer will be helping out with free time activities at the Forum, but if you want to complain, you should turn either to Kovo or to Kubo who will be primarily responsible for this part of Forum.
Kovo (24, real name Tomas Kovarik, debated in Russia '01) can fall asleep anywhere at anytime and ignores alarm clocks of all types and models. Apart from that, he studies computer science and works at SUN Microsystems, both in Prague.
Kubo (23, real name Kubo Macak, debated in Russia '01, coached in Slovenia '03, trained in Estonia '04) takes pride in being familiar with almost all recent romantic comedy movies on the market. In real life, he's a law graduate from Prague preparing to move to Oxford for postgrad studies.
That's all for now! We'll be looking forward to seeing you at the Forum!
Kovo & Kubo
on behalf of the Czech-It-Out Team a.k.a. the Free Time Committee
