Hi again debate community,
So we've kept telling you about the curriculum, debates, work and so on. What about the fun part and the evening activities? Of course we'll have some of those too!!!
As usual, we'll have some free time during the day of the IDEA Karl Popper Debate Championships. The tournament finals are being held in Prague in the Bethlehem Chapel of Prague and under the auspices of Vaclav Havel, the first president of the Czech Republic. The afternoon after the finals is free time in Prague. Our local organizers have a bunch of ideas that they want to share with you about how to spend your time there.
The day after the KPDC finals is sleep in day! We'll start off the mixed teams portion of the Forum a bit late than usual :).
And then, of course, there's August 1st, a day of excursions and fun. We will have a one day trip and there are several options that you can choose from for once at the Forum.
What about the evenings? Well, for sure we're keeping the tradition of the Country Expo night. This year, we've scheduled the exhibit night for July 26th. For those of you who are attending the Forum for the first time - the Country expo night is a wonderful event that allows us to learn a bit more about each other's culture. Each delegation receives some space that they decorate with things from their country and culture. People wear traditional costumes, bring foods or other traditional things from their homes. We then mingle and talk to each other, learn more, dance and so on. So don't forget to pack for this!
Then there are ideas about a kitsch party, karaoke, talent night, all traditions by now at the forum. Come prepared to have fun!
The camp site also has sports courts, so be ready to take full advantage of them.
Best,
Ioana Cionea
Curriculum Director
