IDEA Network News-Condensed Issue #140
:)
Dear INN Readers,
I am always inspired and impressed by the stories and narratives debaters in the IDEA network send to me; it's great to hear about your debates, the relationships you've gained through debate, and where you intend to go as a result of debate. In short, you're all doing some amazing things in the name of education and democracy-and you're having fun in the process! Keep up the good work! ~Arminda
IDEA Holds International Tournament at Jiatong University in Xi'an
This weekend, IDEA will hold its second international tournament of this academic year in the People's Republic of China. This tournament will be held in the historic walled city of Xi'an, in Shaanxi Province, home of the world famous terra cotta warriors. The Tournament will take place at Xi'an's Jiaotong University May 24th-27th. The official format of the tournament will be a 4-team parliamentary debate in WUDC style. Some of the topics for the tournament are: China's clean water and global warming policies, clean coal technology, television advertising for children, and college admission policies. Best of luck to all participants and organizers!
Youth Forum Registration Deadline June 1st
To register for this year's youth forum in the Czech Republic, which will take place July 23rd through August 5th, go to www.idebate.org/tournaments. The tournaments site will automatically generate an invoice for you, which includes instructions for making payment. (Please take into account bank wire fees, which are to be paid by registrants.) Also, please include your full address and contact information on the invoice form in case forum organizers need to contact you. The payment deadline for Youth Forum is June 20th. Questions about payments can be directed to Arminda. Questions about travel can be directed to René Brinda. For general information, please go to www.ideayouthforum.org .
