IDEA, Vytautas Magnus University (Institute of Political Sciences and
Diplomacy), and University of Amsterdam hereby
INVITE You to IDEA EXCHANGE

Where: Kaunas, Lithuania.
When: November 7-8, 2007.
Topic: Debate in the Neighborhood
Deadline: October 15, 2007

Call for abstracts/proposals:
Your abstract should be around 250 words and include the title of your
paper. Be sure to include your name, affiliation, and a short
description of yourself with your abstract submission.

Call for papers:
If your paper is complete, you may also submit your paper, along with
information about yourself.

Theme: Debate in the Neighborhood. We welcome diverse proposals on a
wide variety of topics related to this interdisciplinary area. In
addition to academic papers, we also welcome reports about your
club/school debate activities/achievement, reports about community
building projects, as well as creative presentations.

More Information of Styles of Accepted Submissions:

You may submit an abstract/proposal for a paper, report, or creative
presentation. Or, you may submit the full paper, report, or
presentation. Please note, each author has 15-20 minutes to present
their paper/report/presentation.

Paper: A topic-centered academic paper with a clear central
thesis/argument and appropriate references (MLA citation style is
preferred). A great networking opportunity for scholars, the aim here
is to present your research to interested peers and to help generate
discussion related to your interest area.

Report: A descriptive report about a club’s or a school’s activities and
achievements. The aim is to not only share the successes of your
club/school, but to also create a forum for
club-building/community-building, where participants can learn from one
another’s successes, weaknesses, and overall experiences.

Creative Presentation: This may be a dramatic performance, the reading
of poetry/a short story, or another sort of artistic display. The aim
here is to artistically express the general theme of debate in the
neighborhood, or any of its sub-areas. For instance, a high school
drama club is welcome to put on a short play about youth empowerment.
