Slovenia

Dear all, 

Firstly, I need to share with me the excitement I feel today: tonight the
national Slovenian TV  shows  the 50 minutes
documentary which                  was made              about   Slovenian
delegation at the Worlds School Debate Championship 
in July 2007 in Seoul.  I am proud and scared. 

Secondly,  I am very honoured to open the registration for two international
events we are organizing in March, 
the International high school debate tournament, held on the 7th and 8th of
March in Postojna and 
the International middle school debate tournament, held on 15th of March in
Celje.  

All the participants from other countries are invited to come a few days
earlier. You will be hosted by the debaters         of the hosting schools
(home stays), you will be invited to participate in the regular classrooms
and debate activities. Some sight seeing will be organized as well.  

We will appreciate a lot if you can send the information about these events
to the debaters, debate coaches, teachers in your country. Please, feel free
to ask any questions you might have. I will be more than willing to answer.


INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE TOURNAMENT, March 7th and 8th 2008, Šolski
center Postojna 
For high school debaters. 
Debate format: Worlds School Debate Format, check the format on
www.schoolsdebate.com
Language: English
Debate motions will be connected with EU, the prepared ones will be
announced at the       end of January. 
Tournament will have 6 debate rounds  for everybody (3 on prepared,
3»impromptu«), semi – finals and finals on prepared debate motions. 
Participation fee: 25 EUR per person in cash upon arrival.  
Registration is open now. 

VERY IMPORTANT: BY DEBATE TEAM WE MEAN 3 DEBATERS – WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THE
TEAMS OF FOUR OR FIVE DEBATERS. EVERYBODY COMING AS A DEBATER NEEDS TO
DEBATE ALL DEBATE ROUNDS. 

Postojna is a town 60 km from Ljubljana on the way to the Adriatic coast,
easy accessible by traines and buses from Ljubljana, Trieste or Venice.
There are lots of cheap    airlines, like Easyjet and Ryanair, Germanwings
and others flying to Ljubljana, Trieste or Venice. Postojna is well known
for the extremely beautiful caves.

Celje is the third biggest Slovenian town, located 60 km west from
Ljubljana, easy accessible by train or bus from Ljubljana. When checking the
options of flying to Slovenia, you can look also at the Ryanair flying from
London to Maribor and of course flights to Ljubljana, Zagreb, Klagenfurt,
Graz, Venice – these are the places where you can land and than take a train
for Celje.
